"Sticks and stones may break my bones,
But whips and chains excite me!
Of all the things to call something why is it that when some people see something they don't like they say it's gay?
This is not a practice reserved for children in a playground who know no better, this insult is used by adults. But why?
It's not just the label of gay that gets thrown around though. Many a time you hear someone say "you big girl" so what have girls ever done that means their gender should be used as an insult? I'll admit to actually using that one myself, even about myself at times, when I've said things such as "crying like a big girl." Find any man trying to be open and honest (or trying to get laid) and they'll tell you that it's okay to cry so why when people do is it said to be crying like a girl? Why not crying like a man?
Does it all spawn from a new language we're developing from youth to try and talk about forbidden things in front of "grown ups". When did things become so twisted that it's good to be shit?
I don't think I've ever been offended by any slang term for homosexual and can remember hearing someone say "man you're so gay" and expecting me to be insulted by them pointing out the obvious. I laughed and walked away calling the guy a twat and even now I wonder why it's insulting to call someone something often used to describe female genitalia. By using that term am I saying it's insulting to be a woman? Who knows? - I don't!
I care little about titles and labels and find them boring and tedious even if I label myself and those around me, but sometimes I just find language so confusing.
But what do think? Am I talking shit? Does that mean what I'm saying is good or should I really be saying it's bad?
