following on from landers post about gay being used as an abusive word I just saw this and thought I would post it this one here

Homosexual's never hijacked the word gay. It was put upon us by straight people.
As you're aware from your comment it used to mean (and still does at times) that if a person were gay they were just happy. This title got given to homosexuals because for a time you could only be a homosexual if you were effeminate and "camp". This campness was seen as someone being overly happy and thus they were termed being very gay and so the title stuck.
Some people say it's to do with gay meaning "Good As You" (g.a.y) but this is not the case.-

The banners used in the Gay marches in the 70's actually had Good.As.You on them, if you are going to get labelled something why not adopt it and make it mean something?
Being Gay or Homosexual or whatever label you want to place upon it does not make you a less worthy person, you are still capable of loving and feeling pain.
And there is so much more adversity to face, I went through all of it with my daughter when she 'came out' it has never been easy for her, she didnt 'choose' the life as so many people keep pointing out, //it// chose her!

Exactly it is right that people should say that gays, or homosexual or bi or whatever are just as good (if not better in some ways) than anyone else we are all one then why descriminate?

Yes...homosexuals hijacked gay, which meant happy and used the word for their own devises.
Now society at large is further perverting the word to make it mean exactly the opposite of its original usage...confusing.
